ReelIQ Update: Smarter Catch Logging, Filters & More

We've been busy making ReelIQ faster, smarter, and easier to use. Here's a look at what's new.

Four Ways to Log a Catch

The Identify screen now gives you four ways to start logging: Take a Photo, Choose from Library, Enter Manually, or Measure with AR. Everything lives on one screen, so you pick whatever works for the moment. Snap a quick photo on the boat, pull one from your camera roll later, or just type in the details — it's up to you.

Collapsible Filter Bar

Your Catches screen now has a clean, collapsible filter bar at the top. Filter by species, water body, or date range. The custom date picker lets you look back at any time period — great for comparing this season to last year or revisiting a productive week. Search is built right in so you can find any catch fast.

The same filters work on the Map screen too, so you can see exactly where you caught largemouth bass last August or walleye during a cold front.

Estimated Water Temperature

When you log a catch, ReelIQ now estimates the water temperature automatically. You'll see an "Est." label so you know it's an estimate — and you can always tap it to enter the real number if you have a thermometer. It's one less thing to think about when you're trying to get back to fishing.

Profile Photos

You can now set a profile photo in Settings. Use the pinch-to-zoom crop to get it just right. Your photo shows up on your branded share cards and throughout the app.

Widget Reliability

The Season Stats and Last Catch home screen widgets now reliably show your latest data. If you've had trouble with widgets not updating in the past, this update should fix it.

Faster GPS and Weather Caching

We've tuned the GPS settings for a quicker location lock when you're logging a catch. Weather data is also cached now, so if you're catching fish back-to-back, the second and third catches log instantly without waiting for weather to reload.

774 Species with Regional Filtering

Our on-device AI model now identifies 774 species — up from 639. We also added regional filtering, so the AI knows which species are common in your area and prioritizes them. This means faster, more accurate identifications where you actually fish.

What's Next

We're still heads-down building. More features, more polish, more reasons to keep your phone in your tackle box. Stay tuned.

Tight lines.

AI species identification is a suggestion only and may not be accurate. Always verify species and check local regulations.
